Our Wedding

Sometimes love finds you where you least expect it. For us, it was in line at Soho House on the opening night party for Miami's infamous art festival - Art Basel. Nicky made the first move, and despite a night of captivating and effortless conversation, Sofia left Nicky that night like a scene from Cinderella due to her early morning flight back to Ann Arbor the following day. And so the love story began, as a long distance flirtation with memes and voice notes, Sofia in Law School at the University of Michigan and Eric Nicolas in Miami eagerly awaiting her return in December. When she returned a few weeks later, they had their first date at Mandolin, a Miami favorite, followed by an incredible concert (Carlos Vives - Sofia's favorite). That February Nicky made his first trip to Ann Arbor, braving the ferocious cold to see if they could make it through the winter. And, they did, quite happily, with frequent trips back and forth between the two cities and the promise of a summer, and potentially forever, in Miami together. Through the seasons, through the heat of Miami and the challenges of law school, and with many beautiful trips along the way, Nicky and Sofi made it to where they are today - engaged and ready to continue their journey with you all the way to Toledo on September 18th for their wedding day.

As mentioned in the first page, the attire for the wedding is black tie. Gentlemen, a tuxedo is required so please plan ahead and reserve a rental in Madrid or Toledo if needed. Dress Code

Hola amigos! To minimize time off from work, we recommend flying out Tuesday or Wednesday into Madrid Barajas International Airport, spending some time in Madrid if you can, and then taking either a car or train to Toledo on Thursday. By car the drive is approximately 45-60 minutes. By train, leaving from the Atocha train station in central Madrid, it is a 30 minute commute. We will have a welcome cocktail party on Thursday and the Wedding itself will be on Friday, but there is nothing scheduled for Saturday or Sunday so you can feel free to plan your departure those days or continue your travels elsewhere! During your stay in Toledo, you can stay within the walls of the medieval town or on the outskirts, everything is very close and taxis are easily accessible, we also recommend downloading the app Bolt, it works great in Madrid/Toledo. We have selected a few hotel options for you below!

Toledo may be a "small" city but there is plenty to do! Toledo has an incredible food scene. The&nbsp;Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes&nbsp;was built in 1476 by the order of the Catholic Kings. With gothic style, this Franciscan building&nbsp;impresses with its two-story cloister full of sculptures and decorative elements, as well as its interior. On a sunny day, it is simply marvelous, but even on a cloudy day it can take your breath away. There is an entry fee of 4€. Don’t forget to buy some ‘mazapanes’ (marzipans) at the little stores across from the entrance.

Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes

It’s the&nbsp;third biggest gothic style cathedral of the world, only surpassed&nbsp;by those in Seville and Milan. It took more than 250 years to build, and the views from the interior are even better than the exterior. Originally it had the 2nd biggest bell worldwide, but its fate comes with a funny story. We’ll save that story for the tour guides to tell you. The entry pass is 10€ (or it may be included in some tours) and offers audio guides. Again, we recommend visiting the cathedral with a guide.

Catedral Primada de Toledo

This is the world's most celebrated Renaissance Fair! In Puy du Fou, there are epic shows with dozens of dancers, outstanding scenarios, fights, horses, and fireworks. In short, this is a mediaeval castle theme park with shows designed to transport you back in time. This is a great activity with and without children.

Puy du Fou España

Located about 20- 30 minutes from Toledo and an hour from Madrid, Bodegas y Viñedos Casa del Valle offers guests the perfect blend of wine, nature, and culture in the heart of Castilla-La Mancha. You can enjoy vineyard tours and tastings, stroll through olive groves and lavender fields, and learn about local winemaking traditions. There are several other wineries around Toledo, but in our opinion, this is the prettiest. The nearby towns of Yepes and Aranjuez offer charming historic streets, royal gardens, and authentic Spanish dining—making this area ideal for a relaxing escape filled with scenic views, great food, and rich heritage.

Beautiful vantage point right outside Toledo that oversees the whole city from an elevated point. Toledo from within the city walls is enchanting, but the views from outside the walls are a must see.

For years Toledo was the capital of Spain and was a bustling center of academia and religious tolerance.&nbsp;In fact, Toledo had the biggest Jewish Quarter in Spain&nbsp;during the XII and XIII centuries. Jewish and Muslim communities, co-lived with Catholic communities in the city peacefully for some time, sharing culture, food, and architectural techniques.
